Five stars - Double Time Travel Tale

This is a time travel novel about two people, Lu Ann, a young widow and her high school athlete son, Billy. When he falls through a wormhole into sixteenth century Scotland, he finds a young lass who is on a quest to reclaim her son. It takes a while for him to acclimate to his new surroundings and his current day teenager concerns are in stark conflict with the real danger he faces in the past. For example, he’s worried about his iPhone reception and battery life and his upcoming wrestling championship match, lending some humor to the story. Through his romance with her, he takes on the dangerous challenge to find her son and he grows into adulthood to “save his ancient life.”

Meanwhile, his mother, frantic with concern over his disappearance, seeks consul from a shaman. While in a trance, she enters the 1800s Wild West in America as “Jody” and learns the lesson of a woman who faces trials and tribulations beyond anything LuAnn has experienced in “real” life.

If you love Scottish historical romance/adventure stories in the style of Outlander, then you will want to read Saving My Ancient Life.

Reviewer Michelle Caffrey  is the author of: Bring Jade Home: The True Story of a Dog Lost in Yellowstone  and Desire in Dairyland: A Small-Town Contemporary Romance Mystery
