                        Press release for I Found Love

            A man with severe Cerebral palsy publishes a sixth book, during the pandemic.  Steven Salmon taps Morse code with his head since he is unable to use his hands. 

            Picture being an author with severe disability, living in a group home with two less than ideal roommates.  After living with his mother for forty-seven years as his primary caregiver, Steven has to deal with eight care attendants with different personalities.  He has to wait for his attendants to attend to his personal needs.

            Steven continues to work as an author, selling his two new books, doing publicity and writing interviews.  He aspires to be a New York author, working day and night to accomplish his dream.                                            

            He is lonely and looks for love in the wrong places.  Steven frequents a strip club after his mother dies and falls in love with a stripper.  The stripper goes out with Steven but he learns she is a cocaine addict.  Steven wants sex and loses his virginity to a hooker.  He enjoys sex, but after a few times Steven wants a girlfriend.

            Steven goes out alone looking for a girlfriend and finds a new network of friends to spend time with.  He watches sports and drinks at a bar with some guys.  Steven attends a playwrighting group.  He sits on the Memorial Union terrace on a beautiful summer’s day and goes to the farmer’s market every Saturday morning to get fresh vegetables.  

            His friends and family are scattered across the country.  He doesn’t see them much.  Email is how he stays in contact with people.  There are times when he wants another person to share the ups and downs of life. 

            Steven is on his own creating a new life.  At first everything is strange and new, but he adjusts finding his way in the world.          

            Some of his care attendants tell Steven that no one cares about him, but he sees how much he is loved by people.  People help him drink at bars and do-good deeds like buying bendable straws, allowing Steven to drink easily.  Loneliness eats at his heart sometimes.  Steven thinks about committing suicide at times but he doesn’t act upon it.

He wants his own apartment, but his fixed income doesn’t allow it.  Steven can’t sleep in his noisy group home.  He feels a need to experience life after living with his over protective mother.  Steven is independent enjoying being on his own.  

            When the bus begins to charge four dollars a ride, Steven stops going out. Being an author, he doesn’t make enough money to afford the bus fare. He becomes a hermit, but he is published by a New York publisher.  Steven keeps hoping to meet the right woman one day.

 In January 2017, my book was released It’s A New Life, Mom Is Gone.  There are podcasts and radio interviews on my website.  A couple feature articles has been written about me, including the Wisconsin State Journal.  I have a Bachelor of Science in English and a writing minor from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  Also, I have a Liberal Arts degree from Madison College.  I write a newsletter for Integrity Residential Services.
