
Why Submit?
- Get Published: Writers of short romance stories focused on Wisconsin settings or symbols will be published in this anthology, distributed across Wisconsin and beyond from WWA Press.

Submission Details
Eligibility: Open to Wisconsin Writers Association, Chicago Writers Association members, and Off Campus Writers who submit between February 14 - May 1, 2026; if not enough submissions chosen for publication are received, submissions will open to the public May 20-June 30, 2026.
Subject: Romance stories that are sweet to passionate, contain no vulgarities or explicit acts or language and must be related to Wisconsin in some way, for example, through setting, food, culture, history, lore, etc.
Length: 1,000–8,000 words
Deadlines: WWA Members may submit entries, previously unpublished between February 14 - May 1, 2026.
Other:
- There is no fee to submit.
- Members may submit more than one entry, but only one per author will be allowed publication.
- Authors do not pay for any aspect of publication, but may wish to purchase author or sale copies at a substantially discount upon publication.
- Publication is tentatively set for Valentine’s Day 2027, but may be Spring 2027.
- The amount of stories chosen will depend on quality of submissions and length.
- Authors will receive a flat fee for one-time publication rights; no other royalties will be paid; authors will sign a contractual statement to this effect upon acceptance. Authors may resubmit published stories elsewhere beginning six months after publication.
- WWA Authors will be notified by May 31 if selected for publication. If submissions open to the public, selected authors will be notified by July 15, 2026.
- Entries will be acknowledged upon submission, but only authors whose work is selected for publication will be notified; all others may check the June Newsbrief, website and Facebook announcement, and announcement in June Creative Wisconsin for the list of authors and works chosen, unless final selection has not been completed.
How to Submit: Send your best, polished, and properly formatted story (double-spaced, 12-point font, one-inch margins) including title, word count, full name, address, phone, email and declaration that the story has not been published elsewhere at the top of the first page as a Word document to wwapress@wiwrite.org with “Romance Anthology” in the subject line. Provide a one-paragraph bio at the end that includes your Wisconsin connection. PDFs or Mac Pages not accepted or acknowledged.
