Bio
Catherine Young is a writer and performing artist whose work is infused with a keen sense of place. She is author of the memoir of coal country Black Diamonds (Torrey House Press) and the poetry collection Geosmin (Midwest Book Awards Silver Medal). Her writing is published in journals and anthologies nationally and internationally, and her work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best American Essays. She leads writing workshops and coaches writers of all levels.

Catherine worked as a national park ranger, farmer, mother, and educator before completing her MFA at the University of British Columbia.
