Karen Milstein is an author, peer specialist (CPS), and amateur linguist who has a lengthy history of being involved in the psychiatric system. She was able to complete a BA in Linguistics and German from the University of Michigan. She has tread on both sides of the mental health system’s fence: as consumer and provider for well over two decades. She has written extensively about her experiences, in newsletters, on Facebook, in classes, and in her memoir, The Grammar of Madness: Mapping a Mind Across Cultures and Crises. Karen is passionate about life, human nature, and language. Karen lives in Madison, Wisconsin.
