Bio
I love writing books for kids who want to be everyday heroes. I wrote my first book, Canned and Crushed for my students. I’ve also written Crossing the Line (Christopher Award Winner) and Another D for DeeDee (Starred Kirkus review.) I live in Chicago and spend my days writing, quilting, and volunteering. My unofficial credentials are more interesting than my official ones—babysitting for the Grateful Dead, having my jump rope thrown in a tree by Jim Belushi, hoodwinking hundreds of first graders into believing plastic dinosaurs could speak, and teaching long enough that I taught my former students’ children.
